The Girl From Ipanema

Every time I hear this song I'm transported to an imaginary 1960s summer, or rather to an assembly of curious clichés I've seen in movies, like (unfiltered) cigarette-smoking youth, infamous cocktail-sipping café patrons, and classy scooter-riding beauties.
This is the girl who "gently sways" in my mind, to the Bossa Nova beat of Ipanema...

I hear that song often on French radio & your image fits it perfectly. Love the hue of her shadow--

Thank you J, and Drake!

Merci Matt! I just listened to Nana Mouskouri sing it... so funny to hear the translation.

Stef, merci aussi! I feel like animating those hips.

Dani, je viens juste de decouvrir sur le blog de Genevieve (rose a petits pois) que tu parle Francais! es tu Francaise?
Stef :)

Thanks a lot Bianca! Maybe, if I find time, but I'm afraid my animation wouldn't do justice to the song :)

Robin, thank you. It is a sweet tune, and I just couldn't resist drawing the girl.

Salut Stef.

It's 30+ degrees in T.O. today and humid. So this lassy would fit right in.
She's got such movement and great shape. Is she a quick sketch or the product of a long-ish process? She feels very fresh.

Thanks, Kei! I'm glad you like it!

Hello Doodlers! So, is the Toronto summer still hot and humid?
This came out of a quick pencil sketch I did while listening to the song. I was having fun so I just scanned it and painted it... I'd say I did it in a couple of hours, then wasted a few more getting confused by Photoshop. Ever feel like having too many options is not a good thing??? Silly.
What kept me inspired and focused was listening to Antonio Carlos Jobim over and over again, until I was done.

Thank you Beatriz!

Hi Milenko! You are most welcome, glad you enjoy it.

Thanks Roque!

Zdravei Peter! Thanks so much for the comment! Always nice to get a little hello from back home!
Cheers!

"Ever feel like having too many options is not a good thing???"

yup!!

You may have had a lot of options but you chose well.

It's hot in downtown T.O. but where we are in The Beach neighbourhood- here the heat isn't reaching us yet. Later today. Humidity also is less where we live. There's a breeze off the lake...

I'm boarding. :)But today I just want to take a walk through a ravine...
