Interlude

I had a chance to see WALL-E last Saturday, and I simply have to say that this film will blow you away! Congratulations to Andrew Stanton and his crew, who have created another beautiful and honest piece of cinema!

Incidentally, today was my first day of work in Pixar's Art Department, and now more than ever, I am proud to be part of this incredible studio. Needless to say this is a brilliant opportunity, but the truth is I would have never made it here without the patience and support of my husband James, and the help of my friends Nick and Matt, with whom I've been sharing animated adventures since 1999. Thanks to the three of them, and thanks to all of you who visit my blog regularly (your encouragement too has played a big role in this happy turn of events)!

As for WALL-E, it's a rendez-vous, June 27th!

I can't seem to get my friggin responses to work. I'm blog illiterate. We'll see if this goes thru. I had tried and failed a few times to convey my admiration for your Ipanema girl ("the great angle, the neg space, the breeze, the hips, the samba-ing it seeems to induce...") I'm happy you are at PIXAR. You seem an extremely talented artist who will do great things for them. Congratulations ( if you get this!)

Congratulations Daniela!! Pixar seems like the right place for you. What are you doing in the art dept?

Daniela, congratulations. I remember J was saying before you guys left for Pixar that you just had to work in the art department there, so I'm glad that it's finally come to pass.
I wish you all the best and can't wait to see your stuff in the 'art of' books. Congrats again, and say hello to James and Nick for me as well!
Have a great one.

Congratulations on the new gig!
For some reason, I assumed you were already working there. I guess, with the work that you were doing, it seemed like a perfect fit.

Say hi to Brad Bird for me!

Jeepers, Dani thanks for the kind words, although I don't think I had anything to do with where you are now. I'm just lucky to have worked with you before they snagged you in the big leagues. Congratulations!

Big, big grats on Pixar, you're exactly where I want to be doing what I want to do! I met you briefly at a sketchcrawl and was floored when I peeked over your shoulder at your book. I had a couple of questions to ask you about the brushes you use for your studies in PS - did you make these or did you download them somewhere?

Wow, where to begin?!? Thank you all and my apologies for such late replies. What did you all think of Wall-E? I'd love to hear!

John, thank you so much! I'm lucky to be able to contribute to the development and growth of our medium. I absolutely love what I do, and would have never hoped for anything better!
Here's to a future in film, and to many new friends, at Pixar, Disney or otherwise!
Daniela

Thank you Matt! I try to do just that! It's a humbling place, in the best possible way!

Hi Mia! Thanks for reading my blog and for your wishes!
Mnogo chte mi e priatno da se svarja s teb!

Rawls, thanks a lot for visiting and I sure will say hi to those guys.

Thank you, Bill! I'm a character designer here, but I think I already mentioned it to you in person. See you at the next SketchCrawl?

Hi Randeep. Thanks, yeah, I always wanted to work in the Art Dept. so it's quite an honour to be part of it.

Thanks so much Brittney, and sorry I didn't have a chance to say hi at the last SketchCrawl, though I did see you there!

Thanks Bobby, that's very kind of you!

Bill-E, thank you, and come visit more often!

C.B. Canga, I agree. I guess with a sound designer like Ben Burtt they really couldn't go wrong! Did you like the film?

Heej, I should say YOU go girl. And as for the very little girl, can't wait for her visit with both of you next time!

Hi Kei! Are you coming for the Totoro Benefit? Maybe I'll have a chance to meet you here!

Bobby, thank you! And I hope to see you in September as well!

Matt, all I have to say is, sometimes everything begins with an accountant! Here's to the good Har-old times!

Arna, John, thank you both!!!

Thanks a lot Steph! This reply is way overdue, though it was nice to talk about it in person at SketchCrawl. Did you end up finding the 36 PS brush? The custom ones I have are variations of it, with a bit more thick/thin capabilities. I also reduce the flow if I need more texture. Hope this helps!

Thanks Bianca! Your little smiles : D : D always make me so happy!

Ciao Federico e grazie mille!

Merci beaucoup, Matt!

Hi Wouter and thank you! That's been my motto ever since I started!

Thanks, Robin! How did you like Wall-E?

Thanks, Smita! Come visit next time you're in town!

Seanwickett!!! So happy to hear from you! Drop me a line sometime...

Thanks a lot, Calvin! Hope things are going well for you!

Hello Joe and Elio, and thanks for your visit!
